Reflective Response

My personalities are being outgoing, fun, outrageous, funky etc. I also like to have fun, not care what other people say about me. My personalities are what you need to be a fashion designer. I also have a creative mind, love designing things. I have many interests that includes having fun, reading novels, school i guess, love giving people make overs, cutting hair, and shopping. I also enjoy helping others, working in teams. I like expressing myself through writing, music, art, and solving problems.

I get things done, I'm responsible and loyal. I am down to earth, i believe in following rules, and cooperating with others. I am also trustworthy. I can usually persuade people or negotiate with others. If i put my mind to something i can always finish it. I am a very motivated person.

Well, none of that relates to a fashion designer, but that's what i like to do for fun. My personal values conclude beauty, honesty, generosity, independence, helping others, and privacy. My work values conclude financial reward, which me that i want to make money. I want to have a high salary. I like hearing other peoples opinions , I like being the leader in a group of people.

Also, my other work values concludes self-expression, in other words means that i like to use my talents. I also like to use my creativity. My intelligences are to interact with other people,and understand them. Also, can solve problems, can tap into peoples beings. What feelings we have, who we are, and why we are this way. I like to preform, show my musical talents.


I'm very good at english, gym, i am a great dancer, very good at solving peoples problems, having faith in people. I can also cut hair really good. These are all of my skills, and what i can do best. No one really has an impact on my goals and future plans. I am just my own person, i am very independent. In school i will try to join clubs, and groups. I also want to make it on the honor list. What I'm trying to say is to get involved with anything i can. Why?

Because it would increase my experiences for my future employment. My hopes are just to be happy with life, also to graduate high school with great marks, and have a great job that i love, also go to university. Now, my dreams are to own a big house, nice car etc. But seriously i dream that the world is a way better place in the future. Also, no more wars, poverty. I hope to achieve a diploma, i also want a job that deals with children.

When i am older, i wish to be making a lot of money. I don't want to be broke, and homeless. Well, i want to get married at a young age, and i also want 2 kids at a young age as well. Why? Because i want to experience more things with my grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I do not want to have wrinkles when i have my first child. I don't really care to much about friends, but i would like some friends when i get older. I want friends that care about me, and my kids, i want friends that are honest, and loyal.

I really want to be healthy when I am older. But i don't think i will be very healthy, because everybody in my family has died from cancer. Also, i smoke but i am trying hard to quit. I want to work out like everyday, just to be healthy. To achieve my career goals i will have to go to school everyday, do good in school, and save money to go to college or university. I also have to focus on my schooling, and nothing else.

I don't want much, but i don't want to worry about anything. I want a nice house, nice car, but it does not matter weather i have a supper nice car. I just want one that works, same with a house. I don't care if its huge, it really doesn't matter what it looks like. Those are some possessions that i want later in life.

Prerequisites

There are many colleges you can go to study fashion design like, George Brown college, Olds college, Vancouver community college, and Seneca college. Also there is a college that is Ryerson that is the one that offers a degree. Most of the colleges that are really good are located in the United States. In the United States there are really good programs you can do. There is not much in Ontario. There are some fashion design classes you can take. There are many programs at George Brown college. You can build your own portfolio, get you set up for the environment, and the artistic world. George Brown college is located a couple minutes from Spadina. It will take two years. You graduate with a diploma. You can also go for a year, but you don't get enough experience.

Trends

Technology, Environment are all of the trends that will and has effected fashion designers. How do these trends effect fashion designers, well there are many types of technology. Like different types of machines, robots could even be the models. That would mean that the models would have no job. Or even new technology that you don't even have to leave the house to buy clothes. The environment has changed a lot over the years. Clothes get worn, but then they get old, and ruined. Then people have to throw them out, and where do you think the clothes go? More people in the world, more pollution. So, fashion designers are inventing some environmental friendly clothes. All of these trends is a big concern for many workers. Later they really wont need fashion designers, they would have other people doing other jobs. Other ways to get clothes. People now don't even realize whats going to happen in the future. People think that everything is going to be okay, which is untrue. It's only going down hill from now, and people need to be prepared. A lot of people are going to be jobless, and then what?

These are 2 trends that has and, will effect this job.

Advantages & Disadvantages

The advantages of this job would be that you get paid a lot of money, it's fun, you get vacations, you get to design clothes, you get to see people wear your designs. You wouldn't really need to buy clothes, you could just make them. You can make cute outfits for your children. Its a good thing to know.

The disadvantages of this job would be that you have to work full time, long hours, I wouldn't really want to work a long time, I would want to come home to my kids. I also want to spend time with my kids. If I worked that long, I would never see them. I only want to work part time. That is my biggest concern. I don't want to be the mom that works all day, every day.

The Characteristics

The best characteristics suited for the job would be someone that is friendly, smart, a good sense of colour, good communication skills, can work well with a wide variety of people, that can handle criticism, that can work hard, work long hours, passion, and lastly can sell ideas to others. Strong drawing skills, strong sewing skills, and is also a team player.

The worst characteristics suited for the job would be someone that can't stand to work a long time, is always late, does not like working with others, that has no sense of colour or fashion. Does not have experience, and has not taken any art classes.

Highschool Courses

You should take math, creative arts, business/computers, science, and social studies in grade 9. In grade 10 you should take math, visual arts, business, fashion, science, social studies, and personal & career development. In grade 11 you should make sure you take math, fashion, visual arts, and drafting & design, also science and social studies. You should take math, drafting & design, fashion, marketing, visual arts, fashion, and communications & media studies, social studies in grade 12.

These are all of the courses you will need to get into a college or a university. You need to take these courses in high school. You need to make rough sketches of garments, so you need to have drawing skills. You need to be good with numbers, because you need to measure fabric. You have got to have good ideas, you also have to know how to budget things for purchasing materials. And lastly, you have to be very creative.
